Bacardi O Jilla is the next star to shine out of a city that has produced Hip Hop legends such as Kanye West, Common, Lupe Fiasco, and fellow K-Towner Twista. Bringing the perfect mix of strong, witty lyricism and commercially viable songs the rapper/producer cites Nas, Timbaland, Lupe, Twista & Triple Darkness as influences and has been known to call himself "the dumbed down Lupe". An assertion that he feels is complimentary "Lupe is probably the best lyricist ever but the people who are in the club all the time will never get that because his music doesn't play toward that scene. That's what I bring to the table. I make songs that you can dance to but when you sit down to listen to what I'm saying you can't deny that I was spitting hard and even though it comes out funny I'm talking about real life situations."
Jilla exemplifies these characteristics on tracks like hood favorite "Squally Up The One Way" which features label mate Bmfift (who also produced the track) and club banger "Shake That Bottom" and crossover ballad "All I Wanna Do" Ft. the beautiful voice of A/V's Shneda Lenise. Those songs (all of which are produced by Bmfitf) show the versatility and overall appeal of Jilla.
Jilla's album entitled M.E. which will be executive produced by Jilla & A/V President Kenneth "Logik" Anthony is being recorded at The Attic Recording Studio the same studio where classic album's "Food & Liquor" "The Cool" were crafted and boasts production by A/V's in house producers the aforementioned Bmfitf & Willie P. The album which is an acronym for Maximum Exposure aims to do just that and expose the things that people try to hide from "A lot of the album is gonna talk about the guy who in the club making it rain but goes home and is sleeping on an aerobed with no food in the refrigetrator, or the girl who is in the streets chasing after the guys with the most money but is crying because he doesn't respect her and people call her a bust down. There's gonna be a lot of that but its still gonna be the fun side that you can dance and ride to." The album will feature the skills of Shneda Lenise, Dre, Caviar, & Desert Eagle. This album is shaping up to be a classic and Jilla is set to make an impact on both the Chicago and National rap scene.
